Walgreens Clearance Soft & Dri FREEBIES! and Coupon Policy

FREE
Saved 29.94

Had to take my son to the dentist for a filling (Yuk!) and they told me to just run an errand because it would take about 30 minutes. There was a Walgreens around the corner and I needed to buy some pencils & markers for school for him. Low and behold, look what I found in the clearance section.

6 Woman's Soft & Dri Pulse Deodorant (2oz.) - $4.99 on clearance for $1
- (6) $1 MQ from 04-19-09 SS
Final Cost = FREE

Now remember - every Walgreens clearance section varies - usually the clearance is up to 75% off and so at one store it may be marked down 25% another 75%. It may not be clearanced at all. It is definitely a hit or miss.

To add another comment - something must be in the air because the cashier proceeded to tell me that she would use multiple coupons this time, but they were only allowed to accept 4 same manufacturer coupons and how they had just had a special meeting about coupons and how many they will accept. I said, really, may I speak to your manager. She then told me that their manager was unavailable. So I had a feeling she was not telling me the truth and called corporate customer relations to ask if this was the case. Corporate proceeded to tell me that it WAS NOT THE CASE and took down the store information to call the manager to explain coupon policy. I then asked her about adjusting down for coupons that are over the product amount and she said that yes, they should adjust down, but would not give overage. If you have any problems, have cell in hand and call 1-800-Walgreens. They were extremely apologetic and said that they would correct the situation with that particular store. FYI

  1. This is AMAZING news as I almost vowed never to shop at Walgreens again b/c of all of the coupon drama I've encountered! I had a Cutter coupon for $2 for an item that was on clearance for $1.69. The cashier was very unfriendly and said "we can't do this." I suggested adjusting the coupon down, but she then told me that she couldn't b/c she could get fired. She then called the manager by phone and he agreed with her. Another situation was using a coupon on a product that would print a Register Reward, the cashier said I had to do one or the other. There's been a few other incidents as well.
Thanks for this phone number, I will be adding it to my cell phone!

You are awesome! I love your site!

  3. Hi, I just called 1800Walgreens about the Cutter Mosquito coupon as well. The customer service agent told me that Walgreens does not have an official coupon policy and that they would have to get back to me. She took my information and said someone would call me within two business days. It seems to me that each checker at each Walgreens is different and without a published coupon policy, we may keep having these issues with Walgreens - too bad!

Thank you so much Southwest Coupon Clipper for all your help - we have saved a fortune!

  4. Every cashier/manager at every store is different, some push through, some don't. Although, there is no OFFICIAL policy in writing (trust me we have all tried to get one) they do honor multiple manufacturer coupons and that is when the 800 number comes in handy while at the store and there should be no argument. On the overage and adjusting down is always a sticky one, but I have never had a problem with adjusting down (knock on wood). I have found a store and checkers I like and that are coupon friendly. That is the same situation at all drug/grocery stores. I do LOVE Walgreens, their managers and cashiers (just some more than others)! So I would stick with the ones you like and avoid the ones that tend to be a problem. My friend Beth had an issue with her Walgreens and after a few phone calls and corporate customer service intervention she has not had a problem since. Sorry for any problems you all have experienced, but don't let it be discouraging. Trust me patience pays off in BIG SAVINGS!!!!

  6. I'm going to put that number in my cell phone as well. What I'm having a problem with at my Walgreens is that they don't seem to have a clear idea on how to use the new RR that have been printing. And let me just say that you really do need to make sure your RR's print because I've had this problem a few times. It's a major pain if they don't print because they has to refund every item and give you back the coupons and start from scatch. This happened onece when the RR box ran out of tape. I went tonight to buy the diaper deal again. I used 2/3 dollar off manufactor coupons. When the transaction was over, I did not get the 5 dollar RR. The manager could not figure out what was wrong. He said that I could not use a RR & coupons to pay for the diapers. I was a little confussed because my balance was still over the amount in coupon & RR. It's this like a filler item? I ended up just having him refund my money and give me back my coupons. This was after he had tried to ring up the diapers without the RR with just the coupons. I know this works becuase I bought diapers with coupons and still received my RR earlier this week.

Oh, this is a little off the subject, but the Randalls at 290& Antone had a ton of items marked down. I got glad candles that were marked down to 1.99 and they had a 1.50 coupon inside, so I got a pretty good deal on them.

    Cheers.
